When my ph meter stopped working correctly I think I added way too much lye water so I ended up precipitating everything back out that I put in. Kind of like making white powder of gold, you don't worry about swinging the PH to far because you want everything to come back. Well thats how I see it anyways. I have been calibrating with 7.0 and the swing is too high for it. I may just practice with litmus paper. I was left with this gelatin stuff that looked like white icing for a cake.
