to most of the dark haired empires of history (romans, indians, arabs, or incans) "strange looking" bright haired barbarians are part of the mythology. the ultimate terrifying "other" recall that in Japan also the indigineous Ainu people were racially different from the Japanese. that's what i like about this show. it teaches to transcend color or creed but also shows the complexity of human interaction.
